Dear Rachael,
My name is Abigail Aldrich, and I am organizing the 2010 PCEA Conference. I am writing to find out if you would be willing to forward the PCEA CFP to your members. I've attached the CFP as a word document and also pasted it below. I hope your conference preparations are going well.
Best,
Abby Aldrich

English Studies & Social Justice
PCEA invites faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and independent scholars and writers to submit abstracts of 300 words or less proposing a panel or individual presentation. While this year’s conference theme celebrates English Studies & Social Justice, proposals in any area of literary, film, and composition studies are welcome. Both pedagogical and theoretical proposals are encouraged, as are proposals to present original creative writing. To preserve time for discussion, PCEA limits all presentations to 15 minutes. Presenters must join PCEA in order to participate.
Submission Deadline
January 31, 2010
Keynote Speaker
Seth Moglen is Associate Professor of English and Co-Director of the South Side Initiative at Lehigh University. He is the author of Mourning Modernity: Literary Modernism and the Injuries of American Capitalism (Stanford University Press, 2007) and he recently published a new edition of a neglected classic of the 19th-century African American radical political tradition, T. Thomas Fortune's Black and White: Land, Labor and Politics in the South (Simon & Schuster, 2007). During the 2009-10 academic year, he is a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, where he is working on a book entitled Bethlehem: American Utopia, American Tragedy.
Conference Submission
Please include your name, affiliation (if any), mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, submission title(s), any A/V needs (the type of equipment is limited), and 300 word abstract in a ONE PAGE word document. Panel submissions should include an abstract and AV needs for the panel, as well as all panelists’ names, paper titles, and affiliations. Panels must consist of at least three presenters and, in order to leave time for questions, should not last longer than 60 minutes. Send this information to PCEA2010 at gmail.com<mailto:PCEA2010 at gmail.com>.
Student Contest
Graduate and undergraduate students who submit an abstract for conference presentation (or who will be part of a pre-arranged panel) are also invited to enter their conference submission in the student competition for the Best Paper Award, which is given by PCEA in three categories—critical, creative poetry, and creative prose—and carries a small monetary prize. Students who compete must be PCEA members. Award winners will also be considered for publication in PCEA’s journal, Pennsylvania English.
To compete, submit 3 copies of the complete work by regular mail, postmarked no later than January 1, 2010, to the address below. Please include a cover sheet with the student’s name, the title of the submitted work, educational affiliation, year in school or graduate student level (master’s or doctoral candidate), and contact information. The student’s name should be removed from the work; instead, make sure that the title of the work is present on the work itself and on the cover sheet. Submissions of critical work should be the equivalent of a conference paper, including notes and works cited. For creative work, submit 10-15 pages of double-spaced prose (fiction or creative non-fiction) or 4-6 poems. No mixed genre submissions, please. Faculty members of PCEA are asked to encourage students who have written strong critical or creative work to submit to the contest and/or the conference.
Student Contest Submission
On a separate cover page, please include the student’s name, the title of the work, affiliation, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and submission title(s) along with 3 copies of the complete work to:
